Author's Note: My choice to drop the "g" at times has everything to do with the rhythm of a people's words. My people. A rhythm rooted within a rich and heart-filled Black vernacular. In The People Could Fly, Virginia Hamilton writes that her word choices "reflect the expressiveness" of the original Black storyteller, and through my choices, I hope to do the same. A Day for Rememberin' is all about a people's abundant expression.
